I think this will be updated pretty randomly, as and when my boards change. I’m going to keep it purely distance though; if i were to include all the boards it would be a loong page.

My distance skating started with a 10 inch wide Black label pool board. Decked out with Indy 169’s and some old school kryptonic rollerskate wheels I went everywhere on it.

I then came acorss a Rollsrolls and spent quite a bit of money on one. I used this pretty much all the time set up wit Holey trucks and non-production 101mm Abec 11 flywheels until the back snapped off. Unable to honour the ‘lifetime guarantee’ that rolls has sold the product on it got relegated to the shed.

I also had a  downhill board. A Rayne Demonseed. I got it second hand with JimZ trucks and blue Kryptonics 85mm wheels. The light came on.

Perhaps I could use this for getting around on?

It worked. I swapped out the DH specific trucks for Holeys and got some 97mm speedvents from a mate. The day after the Rolls snapping, I randomly got an email from Rayne offering sponsorship for the trip. I snapped it up and a few weeks later a brand new demonseed arrived through the post.

The set up change dramatically over time. the trucks got lowered by half an inch and the wheels went from 97mm Abec 11 Flywheels, to 75mm Retro Big-zigz, to 76mm Seismic Speedvents and finally to 75mm Loaded Orangatangs. I was skating this board until Novemeber 2008 (that’s well over a year and a good few thousand miles later) when it developed a hairline crack. Not wishing to snap the board I pretty much lived on for 4 months I retired it as a wall hanging.

Out of the cupboard came a board I had been given by Adam Colton to try, a pre-production model; The Fathom. This board uses the G|Bomb brackets to lower the ride and has huge potential as a hybrid pusher/pumper. I’ve used this board for well over 6 months now and have a few records on it too. I’m the fastest mile pusher (the pure pump guys are way faster) and the fastest 5 miler outright. It took a really long time to get into this board, it’s so springy compared to the demonseed, lethal at high speed but so much fun!

The next stage, I guess, is LDP. I’ve recently got hold of a Roe Mermaid and am trying out some of the Virage LDP trucks. I’ll keep you posted!
